How stacking actually works.
The real value isn’t any single rebate — it’s combining them. Here’s what a typical Ottawa Valley homeowner might bank in 2026.
Example · Hybrid Heat Pump + Furnace
Real-world stacked total
An Orleans homeowner replaces a 20-year-old furnace and adds a cold-climate heat pump. Total equipment + install: ~$14,500. After rebates and the interest-free loan, the out-of-pocket cost drops dramatically.
What stacks here
Home Renovation Savings ($2,000–$3,750 heat pump portion) + Enbridge HER+ (~$6,500) + Enbridge furnace rebate (~$1,000) + Greener Homes Loan (zero-interest financing for the balance).

What you actually have to do.
- Book a pre-retrofit energy audit with a registered Energy Advisor if applying for Enbridge HER+. We can refer you to the right advisor in the Ottawa area.
- Use a licensed HVAC contractor on the participating list. DIY installs don’t qualify for any of these programs.
- Choose AHRI-matched equipment. Mismatched components disqualify the install. We handle this.
- Submit paperwork after install. We provide all the documentation; you submit it to the program. Most rebates land in 4–12 weeks.
Common rebate mistakes.
- Doing work in the wrong order — install before pre-audit = no rebate. Always start with the audit if one’s required.
- Choosing the wrong equipment model — “close enough” to spec disqualifies you. The qualified-equipment list is exact.
- Missing the program deadline — Home Renovation Savings is currently active through Nov 2026 but funding can run out before that.
- Assuming you can’t stack — most Ottawa homeowners leave thousands on the table because they think they have to pick one program.
